ABBOTT HOSPITALITY

PRODUCED AT RAY STUDIO

Abbott Hospitality is a collection of luxury event venues throughout the Midwest and Pennsylvania, and after adding multiple new venues, they came to RAY Studio for a refresh. I was the lead designer for the refreshes of The Austin, The Abbott, The Winslet, and the main Abbott Hospitality brand. I also developed an identity for their newest venue, The Audrey. I assisted in the development of illustration and graphics for the other properties in the collection, including The Monroe, The Bardot, and The Harlow venues.

When they came to RAY, most of the properties already had established logos which had been in use for years, but did not have clear visual identities. The Abbott Hospitality team was looking to build these out and differentiate their venues, some of which are located in similar areas of Kansas City.

THE AUDREY

CANNONSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA

This new venue in Cannonsburg took visual inspiration from 1960s wedding photography and Andy Warhol’s pen and ink illustrations. I created an illustrated icon, logo, and hand-drawn alternate logo for a visual identity that is soft and playful.

THE AUSTIN

KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI

The Austin is located centrally in Kansas City, in a row of other Abbott venues we were looking to refresh. To stand out from its sibling venues The Abbott, The Harlow, and The Bardot, we gave The Austin our brightest and boldest look. This venue used geometric shapes, halftone prints, and bold indigo and gold hues to create a playful and welcoming venue space.

THE WINSLET

WICHITA, KANSAS

The Winslet was one of Abbott Hospitality’s established venues in need of it’s own unique look. Taking cues from the flora of the Kansas prairie and the beautiful symmetry of William Morris’ illustrated wallpapers, I developed a suite of illustrations and new visual identity for the venue.
